What Are Scalp Cysts?

A lot of benign lumps found on the scalp are cysts - fluid-filled sacs that develop beneath the skin. While they are non-cancerous and generally harmless, they can cause discomfort when brushing hair or wearing headwear.
Cysts are filled with keratin - a harmless, cheesy protein naturally produced by your skin and hair cells. Squeezing or popping a scalp cyst is ineffective. If the underlying sac (the capsule) is not completely extracted, the cyst will eventually refill.
At the clinic, I provides a definitive, walk-in surgical solution:
Local Anesthetic: The scalp is completely numbed; the procedure is painless.
Excision: A minor incision is made, and the cyst is removed intact.
Recovery: The small opening is closed, leaving a minimal scar that is easily hidden by your natural hair.
