What is it? Sebaceous hyperplasia is a benign (non-cancerous) skin condition caused by enlarged oil–producing (sebaceous) glands. These present as small, shiny, yellowish or skin-coloured bumps, most commonly on the face — particularly the forehead, cheeks, nose or chin.
Is sebaceous hyperplasia dangerous? Sebaceous hyperplasia is harmless, but the bumps can sometimes look similar to other skin lesions, including more serious ones, so having them evaluated is wise.
